Are you struggling to manage your Irritable Bowel Syndrome? Do you want to live better with your condition?
The IBS Network supports people living with IBS. If you are looking for help and support, here’s why you should join the charity.
1. Learn how to better manage your IBS
Through our self-care programme you’ll learn how to better manage your IBS. The programme has information on managing your symptoms, medications, complementary therapies, diet, managing stress and emotions.
2. Develop a personal self-care programme
IBS is different for everyone so by working through the information in the self-care programme you’ll be able to design a plan that’s right for you, learning how to track your symptoms and respond to changes.
3. Speak to specialist healthcare professionals
If you need medical advice, pick up the phone and speak to one of our specialist healthcare professionals through our helpline. Our nurses are available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 7pm until 9pm.
4. Ask an expert
We have a team of medical advisers including gastroenterologists, dietitians, pharmacists, complementary therapists, and physiotherapists who are available to answer your specific medical questions by email.
5. Get the information you need when you need it most
As a member of The IBS Network you’ll have access to our collection of IBS factsheets, with information on the symptoms and treatments of IBS, constipation, diarrhoea, diet, medication as well as complementary therapies and much more. You’ll also receive our quarterly magazine, Gut Reaction, which contains interesting and informative articles, people’s stories and the latest news and research.
6. Never be stuck for something to eat
Make sure you are getting adequate nourishment from your diet with our constantly growing library of simple yet tasty recipes that are low in fat, low in FODMAPs, low in insoluble fibre and do not contain hot spice or other food substances known to upset a sensitive gut.
7. Never feel that you’re alone
Attend one of our local support groups which help bridge the gap between the professional support received by local healthcare services, and the support you receive at home. You’ll be able to meet other people living with IBS, find out more about the condition and learn how to better manage your IBS.
