It’s Volunteers’ Week, a chance to celebrate and say thank you for the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK. Here at The IBS Network we rely on our team of dedicated volunteers to help us to support the millions of people in the UK who have IBS. We wanted to say a big thank you to them.

Our team of volunteers includes gastroenterologists, registered dietitians, support group leaders, trustees, pharmacists, hypnotherapy specialists, patient experts, talking therapy specialists, bowel specialist nurses, office volunteers and fundraisers. They dedicate their time and expertise for free and work tirelessly to help people with IBS. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to help so many people to live better with IBS.

If you are interested in volunteering with The IBS Network please get in touch. We’d love to hear from you. Email info@theibsnetwork.org.

Here’s how you can get involved.

Train as a support group leader

Our network of support groups is growing. We now have 17 support groups and are expanding. If you are interested in setting up your own group apply for a place on our FREE support group leader training days. These are taking place in Sheffield on Saturday 14 September and in Bristol on Saturday 30 November. For more information and an application pack email sam@theibsnetwork.org.

Volunteer in the office

At the The IBS Network office in Sheffield we have three members of staff. Sam is our operations manager, Liz is communications manager, and Alison is our chief executive. With such a small team we appreciate the help of office volunteers. There’s always a lot of work to get involved in and if you’re interested in working in the charity sector it will be great experience.

Become a fundraising volunteer

As a charity, The IBS Network relies on your donations and fundraising efforts. We don’t receive any funding from the government or NHS. If you are interested in raising money to help people live better with IBS we can support you whether you want to run a marathon or hold a cake sale.

Join our virtual advisory board

Are you a medical professional with an interest in IBS? Would you like to be part of our virtual advisory board?

We rely on our healthcare professionals to answer medical questions from our members (through our Ask the Experts facility); to be interviewed by the media or write articles as requested; and to write articles for our magazines, website and factsheets.

Join our board of trustees

We’re recruiting!

We are looking for people with senior level leadership skills; business development skills; and enthusiasm to work alongside people with the condition and healthcare professionals.

We welcome applicants who have worked at a senior management level in the third sector, public services or commercial organisations. Some knowledge of healthcare and IBS would be useful but is not essential.

We are looking for leading professionals with the time and commitment to work with us to drive the charity forward. If you feel you have the skill and expertise we need please get in touch.
