Join our Virtual IBS Advisory Board

We want to hear from you if you are a healthcare professional interested in expanding your experience and enriching your CV.  By joining our team of affiliated medical advisers you will play a crucial role as part of our virtual advisory team.

The IBS Network is the UK’s national charity supporting those living with IBS; a condition that affects about 12 million people in the UK. Its mission is to inform, advise and support people living with IBS. The charity works alongside health services to facilitate IBS self-management through a range of services which include a comprehensive on-line IBS Self Care programme and tailored personal advice from healthcare professionals.

The charity has seen a growth in its membership, particularly during this recent year, and as a result wishes to recruit further healthcare professionals to strengthen its current advisory team.

We are looking for healthcare professionals with an interest or specialism in IBS to be part of our virtual advisory board. Members of our board work alongside our core team, IBS membership community and healthcare professionals to make a difference to the lives of people with IBS.

Applicants would be asked to:

• answer in the region of five to eight ‘Ask the Experts’ questions per month for our members, (disseminated by email from our core team);

• support core team with media enquiries from journalists for comments and articles;

• occasionally write articles for our quarterly in-house magazine, Gut Reaction;

• support the core team in writing content for the charity’s website when required; and

• periodically update content for our member’s factsheets

It is anticipated that advisers would need to commit between two and eight hours per month.  

We welcome applicants from all healthcare backgrounds, but in particular we are looking for psychologists, GPs and pharmacists. Applicants must be qualified medical professionals.

This is a voluntary position and can usually be conducted via email remotely.  However, if attending a face-to-face meeting or conference on behalf of the charity, all normal expenses will be fully reimbursed by the charity.
